AP: Went over "integrals of varying difficulty" sheet together. Passed out test study guide (test is on Thursday). The "Indefinite Integrals" packet with multiple choice AP questions is due on Thursday as well and can be turned in on test day for Extra Credit. Worked out some of the first problems on the study guide together, and will continue on Tuesday and Weds. Reminder that we will begin Definite Integrals in D.S. on Friday. Here are some notes
Homework: AP Multiple Choice q's due on Thursday; test on Thursday. See study guide above.
Honors: Reviewed last week's material on finding critical numbers and justifying maxima and minima using a number line. Introduced idea of absolute extremes versus relative extremes, and how the Extreme Value Theorem guarantees that a continuous function has a max and a min in any closed interval, and how we know that such a value must be at either a critical number or an endpoint of the interval.
Homework: (due Monday): - p181: 12-27 (multiples of 3), p. 165: 19-25
Tuesday
AP: Reviewed for Thursday's test. Here is the study guide with the examples worked out, as well as some other examples: link
Wednesday
AP: More review in DS. Test tomorrow.
Honors: More on absolute extrema. Showed how to find them, involving finding any relative extremes and then also evaluating endpoints and taking the highest and lowest y-value at these points. Lecture notes
Homework: same as monday
Thursday
AP: Took test on indefinite integrals.
Friday
AP: Extra time for finishing integrals test; passed back finished tests in DS. Corrections due sometime next week.
Honors: Worked on review topics ahead of test, which is rescheduled for Friday Feb 13. Study guide here (ignore page 3)
