Mr M was out. Students finished 1998 AP packet or did other review work.
Wednesday
Continued with differential equations work from before spring break, finishing a problem relating to bacteria growth. Used 2 given points to find the values of C and k in the exponential equation that was birthed from the differential equation. Worked an abstract example of a diff eq with a given point which we used to find a second point.
Looked at how slope fields are a way to visualize general solutions (and how a particular solution is simply one of the members of the family represented in the slope field). Constructed slope fields, then solved the differential equation to find another particular solution.
Passed out calendars for testers and non-testers alike, highlighting important dates and info. Planned calculus party for 4B + after school May 7th and Saturday AP Calc timed test morning of 4/28 at 9am. More details to come. Also passed out project information for non-testers.

Warm-up was to find match a slope field with a differential equation. Went over hw, then did one more separable differential equation problem to find a particular solution, then looked at several application problems for review, including translating between a verbal description and a differential equation (including for Newton's Law of Cooling) which set up a long challenging physics problem involving finding the time needed for an object to cool to a desired temperature (used Newton's Law, found C and k using given values, then solved for time to find desired temperature). Worked another AP Mult Choice problem dealing with general solutions, then passed out practice test (real test is not until Apr 20).
Notes from board
handout with some examples from class (didn't get to all of these)
